Wine Box Ceremony

Items you will need :

2 love letters

Your favourite bottle of wine

Lock and key

A wine box

2 wine glasses

You and your Fiancé write a love letter about what made you fall in love with the other person and your hopes and dreams for the future. You seal your letter in an envelope and give it to me before the ceremony starts. During the ceremony I will ask you to place your letters in the box and lock the box. Prior to your wedding day, ask your close friends and family if they would like to place an item in your "time capsule". This is a great way to include them in your ceremony and will be a great surprise when you open the box on your anniversary!

Officiant says to the guests :

_____ and _____ have chosen to perform a Wine Box Ceremony. This box contains a bottle of wine and a love letter from each to the other. The letters describe the good qualities that they find in one another, the reasons they fell in love, and their hopes for their future together. The letters are sealed in individual envelopes and they have not seen what the other has written.

(Officiant turns to the couple)

_____ and ____ , should you ever have a disagreement, you may open this box, sit and drink the wine together, then read the letters you wrote to one another to be reminded of the reasons why you are together. The hope is, however, that you will never have a reason to open this box, other than on your anniversary. And if this is the case, you are to open this box to share and enjoy on your 5th wedding anniversary, replenish and open on your 10th anniversary, and so on. Please place this box in a special location in your home as a reminder of the love in your hearts today. (Officiant invites family and friends to come forward to place their items).You may now place your love letters and lock the box.
